The St. Edmund Blue Jay Baseball team honored a “Championship Legacy” before Thursday’s game, March 12 against Bunkie. The 1996 St. Edmund Blue Jay State Championship Team was introduced and coaches and players that were able to attend gathered on the infield. The team, coached by Scotty Richard, was the fifth of the sixth state titles in program history. The team defeated St. John to win the 1996 title. St. Edmund celebrated its rich baseball tradition Thursday night at Blue Jay Field, honoring members of the program’s 1996 state championship team prior to first pitch. The recognition ceremony set the tone for the evening as the current Blue Jays followed with an impressive 13-6 victory over Bunkie.
