Trailing 7-6 with 5:07 left the game, Eunice drove 99 yards and scored with six seconds left to grab a 14-7 win over Iota in the Joe Nagata Memorial Jamboree held at Bobcat Stadium.
Simeon Ardoin connected with Jeoul Hill on a short 3-yard pass and then Ardoin ran in the two-point conversion to seal the game.
On third down at their own 8-yard line, Ardoin floated a beautiful pass to Traelyn Cooper and a late hit against the Bulldogs helped push the Bobcats to the Iota 39 with 3:10 left.
Strong runs by Hill and Devante Poullard and quarterback keepers by Ardoin and Zach Suire kept the Bobcats moving closer to the end zone as the clock ticked inside the closing minute.
Ardoin and Hill then helped the Bobcat faithful celebrate with the game winning play.
Eunice took the opening kickoff 70 yards in 13 plays, aided by a pass interference call against Iota.
Five plays later, Ardoin connected with Cooper for a 15-yard touchdown.
The extra point hit the upright, but Eunice led 6-0 with 4:55 left in the first half.
Iota responded with a seven-play, 56 yard drive, sparked by several strong runs by Luke Doucet.
Bulldog quarterback Dawson Wallace scored on a 10-yard run and Luis Doroteo’s PAT gave the Bulldogs a 7-6 lead with 16 seconds left in the half.
The Bobcats came out on fire in the second half with Hill running four times for 32 yards and Deon Ardoin adding 28 yards on three rushes.
Cooper added a couple of outstanding receptions to help the Bobcat offense in the second half.
Eunice opens the regular season at former district rival Northwest Thursday night in Prairie Ronde.
The Bobcats defeated the Raiders 37-14 en route to the 2018 Class 3-A state championship.
Northwest finished 8-4 last year, falling to Lake Charles College Prep in the second round of the playoffs.
