‘Coach Frug’ recalled for 58 years of coaching, teaching

Coach Marion Fruge, known more commonly as “Coach Frug” to his athletes and students and “Poopsie” to his family, passed away May 30. He was 89 years old.

Parade still on to honor city’s high school seniors

A first-time parade to honor the city’s high school seniors remains scheduled at 6 p.m. Friday from City Hall to Circle Park and back. Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said the event remains scheduled. The seniors are to wear caps and gowns and march six-feet apart for social distancing.

‘Blackface’ hazing to be probed

The Lafayette Diocese and St. Edmund administrators said they are investigating a reported case of a hazing involving cheerleaders at St. Edmund High School wearing “blackface.
