School Board finished its fiscal year in the black

The St Landry Parish School Board finished its 2019-2020 fiscal year with a $2,612,450 surplus in its general fund. Tressa Miller, finance director, delivered the news during the Board’s Finance Committee meeting on Oct. 27. The financial finish nearly went without comment.

Edwards moving state to Phase 3

Gov. John Bel Edwards said Thursday the state will move to Phase 3 for the reopening of its economy amid an improving picture in the fight against the deadly virus. Edwards said he would provide details about Phase 3 Friday afternoon.

Head Start control moving to St. Landry Parish School Board

The hiring process continued this week for Head Start jobs as the 10-center pre-school system is to transition to the control of the St. Landry Parish School Board. The school system’s control begins Saturday and it reopened almost every job associated with Head Start.
