Sheriff issues non-lethal devices

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz announced his deputies are now certified in the use of three non-lethal devices.
The training has taken place over the past month, he said in a news release.
“I saw a need to reallocate funds and grants to purchase additional options that are now available and issue them to my deputies for a less-than-lethal way to resolve a conflict,” he said.

Sheriff launches ‘contactless’ crime reporting

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz has started a Contactless Self-Reporting System that allows citizens to file a crime report online.
Guidroz stressed the system is for minor crimes in his announcement on Monday.
“A citizen wanting to file an online complaint for a minor issue where there is no imminent threat to life or property, will go to the sheriff’s website and follow the links to the Contactless Self-Reporting System,” he stated.

4 arrested in Lawtell shooting

Four people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Lawtell, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release.
On Oct. 18, deputies were called to 599 Durosseau Road where two victims had sustained gunshot wounds.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspects flee the scene in a white Chevrolet Avalanche. While deputies were responding to the shooting they located the suspect vehicle and detained the suspects.
