Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Eva Celestine Demouchet, 67, who passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. A rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Joseph Campion officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment will followed at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Eva enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and going to the casino with family and friends. She loved attending her weekly Masses while praying for those in need. Eva was known to many as a sweet, caring and considerate person to everyone in her life. She will be missed by her loving family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, James Demouchet; daughters, Anissa Demouchet of Breaux Bridge and Cherelle Chavis and husband James of Garland, Texas; brothers, Harold Celestine and wife Prenella, and Melvin Celestine, all of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Vergie Lewis and husband Herman of Cecilia and Johnella Breaux and husband Michael Sr. of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Kaleena Demouchet, Kaliyah Demouchet, Kenan Demouchet and Isla Chavis; great-grandchildren, Kayla Charles, Kaja Dickerson and Eva Lynn Taylor; and godchildren, Tanya Prejean, Isaiah Lewis Michael Breaux, and Adam Fields.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hanley and Anna Mae Thibodeaux Celestine; daughter, Wanzett Lynette Demouchet; son, Tyrone Celestine; brothers, Leroy Celestine, Hanley Celestine Jr. and Ronald Celestine, sisters, Leona Celestine and Rita Lewis; grandchildren, Kaleel Demouchet, Baby Demouchet, and James Leon Chavis Jr.; and her niece Sharon Shelvin.
Pallbearers were Kenan Demouchet, Alonza Demouchet, Dalton Alexander, Daron Journet, Bradley Ledet Jr. and Adam Fields.
Honorary pallbearers were Harold Celestine, Melvin Celestine, Herman Lewis, James Leon Sr., McKinley Demouchet Sr. and James Demouchet.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
