MCHS defeats New Iberia 50-41

The Morgan City Tigers defeated New Iberia 50-41 in nondistrict action Morgan City Tuesday.
Morgan City led 16-8 after a quarter, 33-14 at halftime and 42-29 after three quarters.
Tywaun Walker led Morgan City with 13 points. Other Tigers scorers were Jared Singleton and Taaj Daniels nine each; Morrquise Charles, eight; Deondre Grogan, seven; and Ke’Sean Francois and Kerwin Francois, two each.
Morgan City (14-4) will return to action Friday when it travels to face Mentorship Academy at Sports Academy Baton Rouge. Junior varsity action will begin at 6 with varsity to follow.
Berwick routs Erath
The Berwick Panthers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 65-25 win against Erath in District 8-3A action in Berwick Tuesday.
The win also was the Panthers’ first in league play.
While Berwick led just 13-10 after a quarter, the Panthers extended their lead to 23-10 at halftime and 48-16 after three quarters.
Berwick connected on seven three-pointers.
Josh Carver led Berwick with 15 points, while Tavaris Howard added 11. Other Berwick scorers were Patrick Robertson and Travis Whitehead, eight apiece; Dayton Clark, seven; Reggie James, Blain Louviere and John Coler, three apiece; Donald Tillman, Ian Valdez and Don’Quan Tillman, two each; and Hilton Span, one.
Berwick (7-10 overall, 1-1 in district) will return to action Friday when it travels to face Kaplan in league play.
Patterson beats Kaplan
The Patterson Lumberjacks improved to 3-0 in District 8-3A action Tuesday with a 56-41 win against Kaplan at Patterson.
Patterson outscored Kaplan in every quarter, taking an 11-5 lead after a period, a 25-18 halftime advantage and a 40-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Elijah Williams led the Lumberjacks with 18 points. Other Patterson scorers were Drew Lucas, nine; Reginald Talver, eight; Tyrone Tillman, six; Dajon Richard, five; Kai Schexnayder and Kamiah Jones, four each; and James Butler, two.
Patterson (13-3) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face Central Catholic in a nondistrict contest.
White Castle
routs CCHS
The White Castle Bulldogs eased past Central Catholic 52-28 in White Castle Tuesday in nondistrict action.
Central Catholic fell behind 12-4 after a period of play, while White Castle extended its lead to 21-10 after two quarters and 40-22 heading into the final period.
Brooks Thomas led Central Catholic with 14 points. Other Eagles scorers were Taylor Blanchard, six; Elijah Swan, four; DJ Lewis, three; and Michael-Anthony Hill, one.
Central Catholic (6-10) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Patterson in nondistrict action. Junior varsity is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow.
