Parish councilmen wrap up the year

St. Mary Parish Council members made quick work Wednesday of their final regular meeting for 2017.
Chief Administrative Officer Henry “Bo” LaGrange announced the retirement of Public Works Director George Michael, and noted that Jean Paul Bourg of Morgan City will be stepping into the position.
Ordinances were adopted amending and re-enacting the parish operating budgets, and setting the salary of the Clerk of the Council at $26.09 per hour.
A resolution of respect to be offered by Councilman Paul Naquin in memory of Wayne Stevens, a West St. Mary Port Commission member, was postponed because Naquin was unable to attend Wednesday’s meeting.
Councilman Glen Hidalgo offered a resolution of appreciation for the Bayou Vista Garden Club, which is being discontinued.
Gail Nelson was appointed to the St. Joseph Park Advisory Committee; Theresa S. Trosclair was appointed to Fire Protection Dist. 1 in the Cypremort Point area; Larry J. Hotard III was appointed to the parish Board of Zoning Adjustments.
