Police make drug bust at a local motel

A Morgan City man faces five drug-related charges after city police responded to a complaint about drug activity at a local motel, Police Chief James F. Blair said.
Patrick G. Gaudet, 57, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4 a.m. Thursday.
Officers answered the complaint at a Brashear Avenue motel and could smell marijuana coming from one of the rooms, Blair said.
After getting consent to search the room, officers found possible marijuana, other drugs and paraphernalia, Blair said.
Gaudet was booked on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substances (Vyvanese, hydrocodone and diazepam), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gaudet was taken to the Morgan City jail and incarcerated.
Blair also reported these arrests:
—Frederick D. Oliney, 44, of Cypress Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday on charges of driving under suspension, improper display of a license plate and no insurance.
Oliney was arrested on La. 182 and taken to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.
—Samuel P. Gary, 27, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to pay probation fees. He was held for 6th Ward City Court.
—Lara S. McPherson, 29, of Ernies Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday on a disturbing the peace charge.
—Dennis J. Johnson, 21, of Ernies Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for failure to appear for speeding, no driver’s license and driving under suspension.
Officers responded to a disturbance on Catherine Street. When officers arrived, contact was made with McPherson. Reports indicate that McPherson stated that she and her boyfriend, Johnson, were having a verbal altercation.
While talking to officers, McPherson continued to yell at Johnson. McPherson was told to calm down several times but refused, Blair said. McPherson was placed under arrest.
A warrant check on Johnson revealed that he held active warrants for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Thibodaux Police Department. Johnson was placed under arrest and he and McPherson were transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
—Blake M. Dinger, 25, of Neptune Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:07 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for probation violation.
Dinger was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant for the 6th Ward City Court. Dinger was booked and incarcerated.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum reported these arrests:
—Ray Robertson, 29, of Jolivette Street in Baldwin, was arrested at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for aggravated arson.
Robertson, having an active warrant for his arrest, turned himself in to a deputy working at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, Anslum said.
Robertson was arrested and booked on said warrant, and was released on $1,000 bond.
—Rena K. Wilson, 39, of Berwick, was arrested at midnight Wednesday on a warrant for two counts of failure to pay fines.
Wilson was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants she held for the 6th Ward City Court. Wilson was booked and incarcerated.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard this arrest:
—Shaia Bernauer, 27, of Roger Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:33 p.m. Wednesday on charges of driving under suspension, improper child restraint and speeding 45 mph in a 20 mph zone. She remained in custody Thursday morning.
Patterson Police Chief Janis Merritt reported no arrests.
