KALB is reporting a federal civil suit filed by the family of Jeremy Mardis, 6, who was killed during a shooting in Marksville in November 2015, has been settled according to Mark Jeansonne, the attorney representing the child's family.
Jeansonne told News Channel 5 that he could not comment beyond telling us the matter had been settled.
Derrick Stafford, Norris Greenhouse, Jr., Floyd Voinche, the City Court of the City of Marksville, the City of Marksville, the Parish of Avoyelles, Progressive Paloverde Insurance Company, Jason Brouillette, and Kenneth Parnell, III were all listed as defendants in the lawsuit.
Terms of the settlement are sealed under federal order and this week's hearings to hash out the deal were closed to the public.
Avoyelles Publishing has confirmed a settlement was reached but no one said they could release the details at this time.
