Speaker of the House Phillip DeVillier is hosting nine regional town hall meetings highlighting the historic work of the legislature during the past 18 months.
During that time, lawmakers have gone into session multiple times tackling issues including crime, education, taxes, transportation, insurance and the state budget. As a result, the state has advanced in several national rankings and continues to see positive movement in areas including economic development and overall quality of life.
“This legislature committed to doing things differently for Louisiana, and we’ve kept our focus on that promise,” said DeVillier. “We’ve accomplished historic reforms and I believe the state is headed in the right direction. Yes, we have more to do, but working with our local and state leaders we can continue this trend of success for the people of Louisiana.”
Topics are to include criminal justice, education, tax reform, budget, transportation and insurance.
The first town hall was scheduled Wednesday in Gonzales.
The other dates have not been finalized, but sites will include Lafayette, Jefferson, Hammond, Alexandria, Lake Charles, Houma, Shreveport and Monroe.
