St. Landry Parish jail tax fails

St. Landry Parish voters defeated a one-mill, 10-year property tax renewal for operating and maintaining a jail facility in St. Landry Parish. The tax failed with 53% of the 25,970 votes cast in Saturday’s election voting against it. About $646,400 is expected to be raised annually from the tax.
