Acadia Parish to seek new mosquito control contract

After heaping praise on the efforts of Mosquito Control Services and its consultant, Glenn Stokes, in the wake of Hurricane Laura, the Acadia Parish Police Jury voted 6-2 Tuesday to advertise for a new contract. “This is not about the storm,” said Juror Steve Comeaux.

Mosquito spraying increased in Acadia Parish

With the rise in heat and humidity, there is also a rise in the mosquito population in Acadia Parish. Currently, mosquito control trucks have a set route throughout the parish, according to officials at the Acadia Parish Police Jury.
