The 84th International Rice Festival has selected Gilles Piron as president to preside over the 2020 festivities.
The annual event is the oldest and largest agricultural festival in Louisiana. This year’s festival will be held Oct. 15 to 18 in downtown Crowley.

Iota farmer honored by Rice Festival

CROWLEY — The 82nd International Rice Festival will recognize Gerard Frey as the 2018 Farmer of the Year.
Frey was born and raised in a rural community called Shortbread, northeast of Iota in Acadia Parish.

Zaunbrecher selected as 81st Rice Festival Junior Farmer of the Year

The 81st International Rice Festival will recognize Michael Paul Zaunbrecher as the 2017 Junior Farmer of the Year.
Zaunbrecher is the 19 year-old son of John Lawrence and Leslie Soileau Zaunbrecher of Mowata.
He has three brothers, John, Douglas, and Phillip and one sister, Adrienne Z. Fontenot.
