Cajun Mardi Gras Festival in Eunice is a 5-day event

Eunice Mardi Gras Run still planned

The Eunice Courir de Mardi Gras will take place although on a smaller scale than previous years, Captain Pat Frey said. Frey confirmed the run following a number of Mardi Gras event cancellations. “We are going to go by the governor’s guidelines, so we only going to to have a 150 runners,” he said.

Pre-registration for Le Vieux Mardi Gras De Cajuns is Saturday

The Le Vieux Mardi Gras De Cajuns is scheduled for Mardi Gras with registration at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice from 6 to 8 a.m. Registration is $40. Registration is required in person, with a valid driver’s license required, must be 18 years of age.

The Eunice Mardi Gras celebration schedule has been released. Festival music line up is scheduled for downtown Eunice beginning Feb. 21 and continues through Feb. 25 — Mardi Gras. The Mardi Gras is “looking good” said Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot. “We are just praying for some good weather, but rain or shine it is going to go on,” he said. The mayor said he isn’t worried about the crowds showing up.

Eunice Police report Mardi Gras generally quiet crime-wise

The Mardi Gras party in Eunice went by relatively free of any serious crime, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said. There were a couple of incidents, he said. Two women got into a scrap, an intoxicated driver was involved in a hit and run Saturday and there was fight after 9 p.m. Tuesday, he said.
