State’s jobless rate is 7.6%, unchanged

Preliminary data for January released Monday by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) shows that Louisiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from December 2020 by 0.3 percentage points to 7.6%.
The Tri-Parish workforce in December 2020 was little changed from December 2019.
Tri-Parish unemployment rates as well as the state rate remain above those of a year ago.
The state unemployment rate in November was 8.1%, up from 5% a year ago, but down from 9.2% in October.
