Bobcats defeat Breaux Bridge, Sacred Heart

The Eunice Bobcats defeated the Breaux Bridge Tigers by an 8-3 margin in baseball action at the LSUE Baseball Tournament this past weekend. The Bobcats scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. Jahiem Mitchell tripled to leadoff the game and scored on a sacrifice fly by Braiden Rider. The Tigers managed to score a run in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Eunice High School state 3-A championship football team was honored at Thursday’s St. Landry Parish School Board meeting. The Bobcats defeated Sterlington 59-47 on Dec. 7 at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans to capture the state title. From left, are Lane DeVillier, Avery Lee, Coach Andre Vige, Jordan Ledet, St. Landry Parish School Board member Mary Ellen Donatto, Carlin Vigers, Superintendent Patrick Jenkins, Jordan Ogesby, Zach Joubert, Brodi Walker, Coach Paul Trosclair, Principal Mitch Fontenot and School Board member Albert Hayes Jr. Vige and Donatto hold the state trophy. Trosclair commented that one goal of the team is try to represent the city of Eunice and St. Landry Parish in a first-class way. Eunice Elementary bid approved; Eunice High championship year celebrated

Mary Ellen Donatto was elected president of the St. Landry Parish School Board without opposition at Thursday’s Board meeting.
Donatto, who retired as principal at East Elementary, is in her second year on the School Board. She was elected without opposition in qualifying July 2018.
Donatto thanked the Board members after her election and praised the district for raising its state School Performance Score by 13 points last year. She called it a “remarkable feat.”
