Couple arrested for counterfeiting

An Arnaudville man and Opelousas woman were arrested at an Opelousas motel for counterfeiting.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in a news release that Creig Jacquneaux was in Lafayette Parish on felony warrants.
When detectives went to the motel they made contact with Heather Martin of Opelousas and Jacquneaux where he was placed under arrest on the warrants for Lafayette.
Guidroz said that while inside the room, detectives observed a laptop computer, a printer, Vitality multipurpose paper which is used in the process of making fraudulent checks/counterfeiting, and drug paraphernalia.
Detectives recovered four counterfeit $100, blank white paper containing the markings of a blank check, five altered checks payable to Jacquneaux for various amounts, several Schedule I, II, and IV pills, along with two small bags of marijuana, Guidroz said.
Jacquneaux was also in possession of several fake credit cards containing different names as well as two fake State of Louisiana identification cards, and a fake conceal and carry firearm permit, he said.
Detectives also recovered methamphetamine in a suitcase, he said.
“During the interview of Jacquneaux, he admitted to the possession of the items used to counterfeit monetary instruments.  Jacquneaux also admitted to the counterfeiting of checks and money as well as the State of Louisiana identification cards and the methamphetamine. Jacquneaux ended his statement by saying he uses the counterfeiting to support his drug habit,” Guidroz said.
He added, “Martin was also interviewed and admitted to knowing that Jacquneaux would counterfeit items. Martin was found to be in possession of fake licenses and stated she picked them up off of the hotel floor because she did not want anyone else to use them.  Martin also admitted to knowing Jacquneaux was also making counterfeit money and checks for different people.”
Jacquneaux, 45, 2000 block of Broussard Lane, Arnaudville, was charged with monetary instrument abuse, unlawful production manufacturing, distribution and possession of fraudulent documents for identification purpose, possession of Schedule I, Schedule II and Schedule IV drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia .
Martin, 35, 100 block of Carrier Street, Opelousas, was charged with possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes.
Jacquneaux was arrested and booked into the parish jail and a detainer was placed on him for Lafayette Parish. Martin was issued a misdemeanor citation for unlawful possession of fraudulent documents for identifications purpose.
