Annual Council on Aging Mardi Gras dance

The St. Landry Parish Council on Aging annual Mardi Gras dance was held Monday afternoon at the Northwest Community Center.
Many seniors had the opportunity to dance to live Cajun, Zydeco music provided by Big J & the Zydeco Dog Pound.
Seniors ate gumbo, King Cake and drinks, provided by the COA.
Seniors competed for awards and trophies in different categories, which included Mardi Gras King and Queen, Most Traditional Costume (male or female) Prettiest Costume, and Best Dancers, Male and Female.
Winning King and Queen were James Kilburn and Grace Kilburn of Springfield, Missouri.
The Most Traditional costume trophy went to Christy Manuel of Basile, and the Prettiest Costume award went to Marsha Whalen of Many, and the Best Dancers, male and female, recipients were Jimmy LeJeune and Maggie LeJeune of Maringouin.
Judges for the dance included Police Chief Randy Fontenot, Paula Anderson, Paul Schexnayder, Theresa Stelly and Suzanne Gallow.
Mistress of Ceremony was Suzanne Belleau, board member.
