Pedestrian dies in Sunset hit and run

Shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesay, Troop I was notified of a fatality crash involving a pedestrian on La. 182 near Thelma Drive in St. Landry Parish. The crash claimed the life of 51-year-old David Sonnier of Arnaudville.
The preliminary investigation revealed Sonnier was walking on or near the roadway of La. 182 when he was struck by two vehicles that were traveling east on La. 182. After striking Sonnier, both vehicles continued on and fled the scene.

Crash kills Eunice mother, child

A mother and child died in a single-vehicle wreck on La. 95 about a mile north of U.S. 190 shortly before 8 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I.
The crash, ner Linzay Road, claimed the life of 31-year-old Linsey Carriere and a passenger, 6-year-old Chloe Carriere, both of Eunice.
Carriere was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition southbound on La. 95, passing another vehicle, when she failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the left side of the roadway, police stated.

Church Point motorcyclist killed in Acadia Parish crash

A three-vehicle crash on La. 95 at La. 365 in Acadia Parish shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday took the life of 24-year-old Weston R. Nelams of Church Point.
According to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release, the crash occurred as 41-year-old Frankie Guillory of Opelousas was driving a 2014 GMC pickup truck northbound on La. 95 behind a 2013 Ford Fusion driven by 19-year-old Tyler Bergeron of Church Point.
At the same time Nelams was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on La. 95.

23-year-old man dies in fiery crash into historic building in Arnaudville

Dominick S. Roy, 23, of Breaux Bridge, died in a fiery single-vehicle wreck on La. 93 near Grain Elevator Road in st. Martin Parish, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I.
The wreck destroyed the historic La Pataterie (sweet potato drying kiln), which housed art from NUNU Arts and Culture Collective.
