Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Louisiana State Police Troop I was contacted by the Ville Platte Police Department to assist with the apprehension of a shooting suspect located in a residence in the 700 block of Wilson Street.
According to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I, upon arrival to the residence, officers with the Pine Prairie Police Department, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana State Police encountered the suspect and exchanged gunfire. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. No officers were injured.
Detectives with Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations are investigating this use of force incident while Ville Platte Police Department is investigating the alleged homicide and attempted murder. This remains an active investigation and updates will be released when available.
