Tri-Parish workforce down 712 workers

The Tri-Parish workforce shed 712 people in the workforce in July compared to July 2018, according to not seasonally adjusted numbers from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics released Friday. St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes’ workforce totaled 68,687 in July, down from 69,399 in July 2018.

December jobless rate dips from 5% to 4.9%

Data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics shows that seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment increased by 21,900 jobs from December 2017 to 1,992,200. This marks the 15th straight over-the-year increase for seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment.
