The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way has established the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund to provide resources to nonprofits.
Ginger LeCompte, executive director of the St. Landry-Evangeline United Way, said, “... there are those among us who are in great need.”
According to the latest United Way ALICE Report, when the working poor - ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constraint, and Employed) is, in normal times, one emergency away from a financial crisis, it is certain that during the COVID-19 crisis, the situation is even worse.
Rapid response operating grants will help fund human services organizations that have roots in the community and strong experience working with vulnerable populations.
