Eunice News welcomes new editor

The Eunice News Publisher Darrell Guillory announced that Rebecca Chaisson has been named Managing Editor of The Eunice News.

Chaisson brings with her over a decade of newspaper experience. She began her career as a Staff Writer at the Jennings Daily News after graduating McNeese State University in 2003 with a degree in Mass Communication.

The Hathaway, Louisiana native later served as Editor of the Jennings Daily news from 2006 to 2015, in addition to serving as Sports Editor for several years. Chaisson only exited the industry to open her two gyms, CrossFit Eunice and Ville Platte Boot Camp, but her love of news and sports coverage remains.

A resident of Eunice, Chaisson is already an active member of the community. She has served as Strength Coach for the St. Edmund High School football team for the last two seasons and is currently a foster parent to four teenagers.

Guillory said he is excited to bring Chaisson on board to compliment the rest of his hard-working staff.

“Our purpose here at The Eunice News is to provide our readers with top-notch local news and sports coverage,” Guillory said. “This is a tradition that we developed in 1951, and we will continue to do everything in our power to serve as this community’s most trusted news source.”

Chaisson said she is honored to be given the opportunity to serve the community of Eunice in another capacity.

“I am a writer. I have and always will be a writer,” Chaisson said. “This job allows me to do something I absolutely love to do. As a coach, I also thoroughly enjoy celebrating a person’s success. Now in this role as Managing Editor, I can share my community’s success stories with the readers of The Eunice News.”
