A Lafayette man is charged with four counts of attempted second-degree murder in what Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson called a road rage incident.
Gibson said the incident occurred on Interstate 10 near Duson at about 11:30 a.m. March 19.
After getting a call about shots being fired at a vehicle, a description was given out and Scott Police were able to locate and stop the suspect vehicle on I-10, a news release stated.
Investigators came to believe it was road rage incident, Gibson stated.
The victims indicated that the suspect vehicle was driving recklessly. As the victims attempted to pull away from the vehicle, the suspect vehicle pulled up on the rear left side of the vehicle and fired several rounds at the victim’s vehicle striking it twice, Gibson stated.
No on was injured in the victim’s vehicle, which was occupied by four people.
Jayvon Thomas Martin, 20 of Lafayette, was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and transferred to the Acadia Parish Jail, Gibson stated.
