Baltakis to lead United Way Board

Eunice resident Donna Baltakis was installed as president of the the St. Landry / Evangeline United Way at its 2017 Annual Appreciation Banquet at the Little Big Cup in Arnaudville on Dec. 11.
Executive Director Ginger LeCompte introduced all board members for 2018.
The Agency of the year was the Girls and Boys Place in Ville Platte; the Volunteer of the Year was Cynthia Eubaire; the Community Hero Award was Aine O’Reilly; the Inspiration Award went to David Fisher; and the Board Member of the Year was Hilda Edwards.
Induction of 2018 Board officers was made by outgoing Board President Bruce Woods.
President – Donna Baltakis, Community Volunteer/Keep Eunice Beautiful Director.
President-elect – Jody Soileau, SLEMCO.
Vice President – Stephen Morrow, Morrow, Gates and Morrow, LLC.
Secretary – Brandy Ledet, St. Landry Parish Economic Development.
Treasurer – Craig LeBouef, Going, Fisher, Sebastien & LeBouef CPA.
The St. Landry/Evangeline United Way helps fund over 20 local agencies; assisted hundreds of families with food, shelter and general disaster relief after the August 2016 flood and the 2017 hurricanes. In addition UW provided the Leader In Me to four local schools; delivers free books to children age 0-5 through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library; provides several tons of school supplies and teacher’s classroom materials through the Stuff the Bus project; collected over 6 tons of food for nine area food pantries; and supports the 2-1-1- emergency information initiative.
The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way will be relocating to the St. Landry Economic Development building on I-49 in January. Always in need of volunteers and donations, you can contact LeCompte at 337-942-7815.
