Cotton Festival scheduled announced

Louisiana Cotton Association members have been working on the 65th Annual Louisiana Cotton Festival, which will be held Oct. 9 to 14.
The members are announcing the royalty for the 65th Louisiana Cotton Festival.
Kyle Ardoin, Louisiana secretary of state, will be crowned King Cotton 65th.
John Larry Vidrine, retired district judge of Ville Platte, accepted duties of Colonel Cotton.
Hilda Edwards, secretary to the mayor of Ville Platte, will serve as the grand parade marshal of the Grand Parade of Cotton.
Tara Babin is the reigning Queen Cotton 64th. She will crown her successor Oct. 13 at the Cotton Coronation starting at 5:30 p.m.
The fais-do-do that will start at 5 p.m. Oct. 12 with a DJ playing a mix of music to kick off the night. Keith Frank will then take the stage from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Wayne Toups will be the headline entertainment at 10 p.m.
Cotton Festival schedule
Oct. 9
5 p.m. Doors open for live music and dancing followed by the Contradanse and the crowning of Le Roi et La Reine of Heritage Manor Nursing Home at 6:30 p.m. at the Northside Civic Center. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children five-years-old and younger.
Oct. 10
3:30 p.m. 4-H Cotton Food Fest at the Northside Civic Center. Judging will begin at 4 p.m.
4 p.m. 4-H Cotton Pickin’ Pet Show at the Northside Civic Center Pavilion.
5 p.m. Family Night at the carnival opens. (Admission to fairgrounds is free)
5 to 10 p.m. Bracelet hours at the carnival.
Oct. 11
5 p.m. Family Night at the carnival opens. (Admission to fairgrounds is free)
5 to 10 p.m.-Bracelet hours at the carnival.
Oct. 12
Admission all day for adults and children 13-years-old and over is $6 and $2 for children between 6 and 12 years old. Admission is free for children 5 years old and younger.
1 p.m. Carnival opens.
1 to 5 p.m. Bracelet hours at the carnival.
6 to midnight Fais-do-do.
Oct. 13
10 to 10:30 a.m. Contestants and visiting queens arrive.
11 a.m. Contestant interviews at a private event.
1 to 2 p.m. Royal reception at a private event.
1 p.m. Family Day at the carnival opens. Admission to the fairgrounds is free.
1 to 5 p.m. Bracelet hour at the carnival.
5:30 p.m. Cotton Coronation and Crowning of King and Queen Cotton. Admission to the coronation is $5 for adults and children.
Oct. 14
8:30 a.m. Cotton Harvest Mass at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church located at 1220 West Dardeau Street in Ville Platte.
Noon Grand Parade of Cotton running West to East down Main Street.
1 p.m. Family Day at the carnival opens. Admission to the fairgrounds is free.
1 to 5 p.m. Bracelet hours at the carnival.
2 p.m. Running of the Tournoi at Industrial Park.
6 p.m. Cotton Festival closes.
