DiCapo announces St. Landry Parish Sheriff

Paul J. DiCapo, a lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish, has announced he is a candidate for St. Landry Parish Sheriff in the Oct. 12 election.
DiCapo, 58, is married to Katherine Richard DiCapo and they have three children and two grandchildren.
DiCapo has 34 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career on March 1, 1984, as a patrol deputy. On April 1, 1987, he was assigned to the St. Landry Parish District Attorney’s Office as chief investigator. In November 1990, he left the sheriff’s office and went to work for the district attorney. On Nov. 20, 2006, he returned to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office as deputy chief in charge of the patrol division where he remained until his retirement last year.
DiCapo said in his 34 years he has investigated everything from traffic citations to first-degree murders.
DiCapo is a graduate of the Police Academy and has over 100 hours of continuing education from LSU, UL, the District Attorney’s Association and Lt. Vernon J. Geberth, trainer of law enforcement homicide investigators for the New York City Police Department.
