Eunice Fire Department to receive $21,600 grant

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the City of Eunice will receive a $21,600 rural development grant.
According to the USDA, the grant will be used to purchase a fire command vehicle. The fire department serves 10,398 residents of the City of Eunice. The Eunice Fire Department also assists the St. Landry Parish Fire District No. 6 and the Acadia Parish Fire District No. 4. All three areas contain over 20,000 residents that will greatly benefit from the new command vehicle.
District 4 U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson, R-Benton, stated, “As the son of a firefighter who was critically injured and permanently disabled in the line of duty, I know first-hand the sacrifices made by these brave men and women in service to our communities. I am thankful to see our local fire departments recognized and supported by the federal government. This grant will be a great benefit to the Eunice Fire Department and all the people of Eunice and the surrounding area.”
