Eunice January sales tax revenue up

January sales tax rev-enue in Eunice rose 4 per cent compared to a year ago, according to statistics from the St. Landry Parish School Board. Sales Tax Division.
Revenue was $572,399 in January, up $22,244 from that collected in January 2017.
Total sales tax revenue in St. Landry Parish in January was $6,556,004, which was a 6 per- cent decrease from the $6,977,524 collected in January 2017.
The parish sales tax total includes collections for the parish, School Board, solid waste, law enforcement and municipal taxes.
Sales tax revenue in Opelousas for January was down 6.8 percent. The city’s collections in January were $975,900, down $71,436 from the January 2017 collections.
Eunice, Opelousas and the parish totals were sharply up in January compared to December revenues.
Eunice’s January revenue was $572,399, up 49 percent from December’s $383,858.
January revenue in Opelousas was $975,900, up 45 percent from December’s $672,841.
St. Landry Parish’s total revenue of $6,556,004 was up 38 percent from December’s $4,743,292. The sales tax rate in Eunice is 10.75 percent. Of that 5 percent is state, 3.55 percent is parish and 2.2 percent is city. Unincorporated areas in St. Landry Parish pay a 10.5 percent sales tax revenue, which includes 5 percent state and 5.5 per- cent parish tax rates.
On April 1, 2016, the state sales tax rate rose by 1 percent.
