The following are from the January 1998 files of The Eunice News.
A story on the front page of the Jan. 5 edition reported on Ferrara Fighting Equipment Inc. operating a facility in Eunice to refurbish fire trucks from across the nation. Ferrara was located at 137 E. Park.
Eunice Junior High School Student Council members for the 1996-1997 year shown in a photo. Members were Ne’ketta Guillory, Jenna Fontenot, Hildred Thomas, Anna Roberts, Kizzalon Frank, Sonya Chapman, Albert Leger, Paul DeRousselle, Megan Crawford, Brian Ardoin, Nicholas Fontenot, Amy Hall, Sarah Moser, Roxie Lyons, Ashley Ceasar, Crystal Thibodeaux, James Ceasar, Nicodemus Bernard, Jaraski White, Erika Smith, Shelsy Williams and April Ceasar.
A fire at D.J. Manuel’s claimed his prize Corvette. Lightning was suspected as the cause of the fire that occurred about 9 a.m. Jan. 7.
Kelly West Pitre, daughter of Andrea and Ivan West of Eunice, graduated from LSU Baton Rouge with a master of arts degree in communications disorders. Her husband, Lance, was attending LSU School of Law in Baton Rouge.
