Eunice Police narcotics detective Robert Brickley said, in an interview, that prescription drug trafficking had surpassed the more traditional street drugs like crack cocaine and marijuana. Brickley said he had seen the shift in his 12 years in law enforcement in a talk at the Eunice Rotary Club.
Movies playing at the Queen Cinema were “Semi-Pro,” “Fool’s Gold,” “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” and “Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins.” Ticket prices were $550 for aults and $4 for children and senior citizens.
Students of the Month for January at Eunice Elementary were Mallory O’Brien, John-Austin Dies, Jada Hardy, Monica Young, Brenlye Reed, Allyson Klein, Trevin Ceaser, Tabitha Gaspard, Jessica Baloney, Deashia Favors, Scukeisha Citizen, Victoria Belfour, Layla Frilot, Macy Courville and Clea Fransaw.
Walmart manager Robert Gaspard and personnel manager Pris Nichols presented a check for $5,000 for the Imagination Library start-up costs. Accepting the donation were Jean McManus and Aimee Doucet.
