Bobcats capture 25-0 win over the Bears. Defense, rushing attacks highlight the action in hard-hitting Bears-Bobcats encounter. Eunice High strong safety Heath Leonards (16) in pursuit of Church Point quarterback Blake Boudreaux (6).
Blue Jays pick off Elton for 42-6 victory. Strong passing, running game by St. Edmund quarterback helps secure big win. St. Edmund wide receiver Marshall Arabie (3) caught three passes for a net 73 yards and two touchdowns.
Eric Manuel of Eunice bagged a 6x6 bull elk estimated to weigh approximately 1,100 pounds while on a hunting trip in Montrose, Colo. The antlers measured 308 inches. The hunting trip took place Sept. 11 and Manuel was accompanied by a friend and Colorado resident Robert Sunn.
Homecoming Friday at LSUE. LSUE students enjoy a break from classes at the fountain on campus. The school will host its 40th anniversary homecoming day Friday.
Character Counts essay winners. Eunice Elementary fourth-grade students whose winning essays on September’s Character Trait, which is Dependability, are, from left, Ansley Miller, Alexis Marinos, Shana Freeman and Meghan Youngblood. The winning essays will be published over the next four editions, beginning with Shana Freemna’s today on the Opinion page, 4A.
Constitution Day at Highland Elementary. Nicholas Richard, a kindergarten student at Highland Elementary, works on his Constitution Day project. The kindergarten students at Highland Elementary in Wendy Rougeau’s class learned about Constitution Day and throughout the week during Cultural Arts Jeanne Comeaux gave a short lesson on the Constitution, our flag and America in general.
