The St. Landry Parish Council approved changing the polling place from the building housing the Eunice Food Bank to the Eunice Career and Technical Center.
The move of the Ward 6 Precinct 14 polling location , OK’d at Wednesday’s Parish Council meeting, is necessary because the ownership of the building is about to change.
In March and in May the Eunice Board of Aldermen acted to give the building back to the American Legion. The Legion plans to sell the building t 251 Park Ave.
Aldermen voted in May that the city has no use for the building and according to a agreement in the 1970s the Legion regains ownership.
Precinct 14 has 875 registered voters, according to Cheryl Milburn, parish registrar of voters.
The Precinct 14 voters will join the 601 voters registered in Precinct 9 to vote the vocational school,
The first voting that will be held there is the July 11 primary election.
