About 35 FFA students competed in the annual Mechanics Career Development event at the Eunice Career and Technical Education Center on Tuesday. The event is usually held at the Washington Career and Technical Education Center, but this year was moved to Eunice.
Winners, who move on to the next level of competition, included the following.
Welding, first place, Eunice High, Leroy Allen and Alex Thibodeaux; second place, Port Barre High School, Brennan Sanders and Corey Stermer; and third place, Eunice High, Lane Thibodeaux and Jason Garrido.
Individual Highest Score: Leroy Allen, Horizontal Groove Weld; and Alex Thibodeaux, Vertical Joint Weld.
All small engine and electricity teams are moving on to the next level.
District competition is Friday at South Louisiana Community College in Lafayette.
