St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot was elected the 2019 Region III Police Jury Association vice president at meeting of the nine-parish group on Aug. 16 at the Assumption Parish Community Center in Napoleonville.
The parishes include Iberia, Iberville, Lafayette, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and West Baton Rouge.
During the business session led by Association Assistant Director Guy Cormier, St. Mary Parish was appointed as the 2019 Region III Host Parish. David Hanagriff of St. Mary Parish will serve as the president for Region III. In addition, the secretary/treasurer will be Lisa Morgan also of St. Mary Parish. Riley Berthelot of West Baton Rouge Parish was re-elected to serve as Region III’s state executive board bember.
Association president Eric Soileau of Evangeline Parish thanked members and invited them to attend the 2019 PJAL Convention in Lake Charles on Feb. 13-15, 2019.
Members of the Resolutions Committee were also re-elected: Marty Trahan of Iberia, Paul Naquin of St. Mary, and Gary Spillman of West Baton Rouge.
