A small gustnado formed on the leading edge of a line of thunderstorms and produced some damage in Acadia Parish, 5 miles southwest of Iota, according to the National Weather Service.
The wind peaked at 80 mph in the even that occurred about 6:40 p.m. Thursday.
The gustnado went about 0.2 miles in a 70-yard wide path.
A house lost some shingles from the roof and siding from the exterior walls. A small storage building next to it was pushed off its piling. A chicken coop was destroyed, and a trampoline was thrown 300 yards away. Next door, another house had some minor exterior damage, likely from flying debris as a carport was destroyed. Another trampoline was picked up and landed up 50 feet in a tree.
