A total of 262 boardings were reported for Ride Acadiana’s first week, August 20-24, during which all rides were free of charge. The busiest day was last Wednesday, with 67 boardings.
Officials are encouraged by this healthy start for the commuter bus pilot route, which connects Acadia Parish to Lafayette. “We’re pleased to see such high interest in this service,” said Monique Boulet, chief executive officer for the Acadiana Planning Commission. “These numbers bear out our earlier studies indicating a need for transit service between these communities.”
Ride Acadiana has stops in Crowley, Rayne, Duson, Scott and Lafayette, with multiple runs throughout the day, Monday-Friday. Bus passes may be purchased in advance, and exact change is accepted on the bus. Route and fare details are available at RideAcadiana.com
