Saturday election to decide judicial seat

Voters return to the polls here Saturday to fill a seat on the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.
Candyce Perret and Susan Theall are in the runoff from the March 25 election. Perret won 41 percent of the March 25 vote followed by Theall with 37 percent. They edged Vanessa Waguespack Anseman out of the runoff.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
β€” The judicial race is the sole decision on St. Landry Parish ballots.
The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal election is being held in Acadia, Allen, Evangeline, Lafayette, Iberia, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes.
The winner fills the unexpired term of former appeals court Judge Jimmy Genovese, who won a seat on the state Supreme Court last year.
Tri-Parish elections include:
β€”The City of Crowley has put forth three millage continuations on the ballot that will be voted upon citywide. Fifteen precincts will participate in this election. In total, 7.5 mills are looking to be renewed.
β€” The Acadia Parish School Board has two parishwide millage renewals and one for School District No. 7 on the April 29 ballot. The parishwide continuation propositions have 55 precincts participating for a total of 10.38 mills. Only two precincts will participate in the School District No. 7 renewal for 6.19 mills in Acadia Parish. Part of Evangeline Parish are also participating in this election.
β€” In Evangeline Parish, the ballot includes the Acadia Parish School Board District 7 millage renewal election that include Basile; and two School Board tax renewal elections.
Early voting numbers include: 1,150 votes, St. Landry Parish; 1,247 votes, Acadia Parish; and 375 votes, Evangeline Parish.
Early voting ran from April 15 to 22.
