The LSU Board of Supervisors approved an endowed scholarship to honor former LSUE employee Clifton “Slim” Gallow at its recent meeting on Oct. 23.
The scholarship aims for LSU Eunice minority students in the St. Landry or St. Martin Parish students majoring in S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with plans to transfer to a four-year institution or Allied Health track.
The endowment was possible thanks to Gallow’s family.
LSUE will apply to the Louisiana Board of Regents for two-year workforce development matching funds.
“We could not be more honored that Mr. Gallow’s family wanted to make sure his legacy stays at LSUE,” LSU Eunice Chancellor Dr. Nancee Sorenson said. “From all accounts Mr. Gallow wanted to help anyone and everyone at LSUE, and he will continue to do so with this endowed scholarship.”
Gallow was an employee at LSU Eunice for 25 years. The beloved husband and father died at the age of 82 in 2015.
