The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is sowing the seeds for an outdoor classroom for learning and research about storm water runoff erosion management, native grasses and plants, bees and other pollinators, and soil quality.

During the 1950s in northeast Louisiana, future Klansman Robert Fuller was a familiar face to law enforcement.
He lived on the outskirts of Monroe. Local police considered Fuller a thug, and the FBI opened a file on him because of his involvement in prostitution.

St. Edmund schools open Monday

The Rev. Hampton Davis, pastor and principal of St. Edmund Catholic School, has announced that St. Edmund Elementary, junior high and high school campuses will have their first day of school Monday.
The original date of St. Edmund’s first day of school for students was Aug. 11 with a noon dismissal.

More early voting sites proposed

More early voting sites is one proposal by St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard as a fix to the reduction of polling places.
In a news release Bellard stated: “In 2019, the state asked local governments to look at consolidating precincts to save money on costly elections.
