The St. Landry Parish Council is moving to amend its budget to reflect $7,975,812 in American Rescue Act funding.
On Thursday, seven Council members met to introduce an ordinance to amend the operating budget based on the COVID-19 relief money.
The Tri-Parish workforce grew 5.7% to 68,545 in June, according to Bureau of Labor statistics released Friday by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
But unemployment, while down from a year ago, inched up in June compared to May in St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes.

Carol Blanchard Fontenot passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the age of 63. A Celebration of Life was held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Quirk & Son Funeral Home of Eunice.
Carol is survived by her husband, Russell G.
