Precinct split posed at Parish Council

The St. Landry Parish Council continued to ponder voting precincts in a special meeting. Chairman Dexter Brown introduced an ordinance on Monday to split some precincts in what’s called an “alpha split” that divides voters alphabetically in a polling place.

Surveillance system eyed for Eunice

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot was authorized by the Board of Aldermen to obtain prices for a surveillance system for high-crime areas of Eunice. The move follows a shooting at Laurel Avenue and Nimitz Street that killed two people include one man who was bystander.

Legislation to transfer ownership of the Liberty Theatre annex from the National Park Service to the City of Eunice was introduced Thursday by U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson and Sen. John Kennedy.
