Registration open for new French-immersion school in Sunset

Parish president candidates file campaign finance reports

The two candidates for St. Landry Parish president, Jessie Bellard and Dwain Buller, have filed campaign finance reports with the Louisiana Board of Ethics that show combined they raised $55,628.83 and have spent 33,121.13. The reports are required for 30 days prior to the election.

Man suffers life-threatening wound in shooting Wednesday

Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot says a shooting outside Golden Seafood resulted in one male being wounded and another sought. The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. Wednesday after two males argued inside the store on East Maple.

Federal aid clouds state’s budget picture

With an estimated $2 billion provided to Louisiana from a federal coronavirus aid bill passed in December and the likelihood of another federal stimulus package, state legislators are hopeful they can balance the budget for fiscal 2022 with no more than modest cuts.
