Fire destroys vacant house on Perchville Road

Eunice firefighters received a call at 3:50 a.m. Thursday and responded to a house fire off of the Perchville Road, southeast of the Eunice city limits. The vacant home, at 354 Saddle Drive, was completely engulfed in flames when responders from Eunice Fire department, Acadia District 4, St.

Auditor says School Board finances are very healthy

The St. Landry Parish School Board had a very good year financially in 2020, according to auditor Casey Ardoin of Kolder, Salven & Company. Ardoin presented the annual audit at the School Board’s meeting Thursday.

Decision pending on Eunice Mardi Gras

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said there has been no decision on a downtown Mardi Gras celebration. In the past, the city had expanded its Mardi Gras event to a five-day festival, but this year’s celebration may fall victim restrictions intended to slow the spread of COVID-19.
