Concealed weapon class offered Saturday The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting a 1 day concealed carry class on Saturday. The location is at 211 West Park in Eunice and begins at 7:30 a.m. The course is $100 and $80 for an additional spouse.

Eunice Food Bank moves

The Eunice Food Bank has officially moved into its new building at 2101 W. Ash behind the Department of Motor Vehicle building. The entrance and parking are located at the west end of the building. There is also a covered walkway to the door.

Eunice High to hold outdoor graduation

Eunice High School graduates are walking through a year of firsts. They had a school year in which classes on campus were cut short in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Found bikes

A pile of bicycles outside the Eunice Police Department are a reminder of the delight of a first bike or maybe just a new bicycle. For most of the bikes in the pile those happy days are long past. The department is listing 54 bicycles to be auctioned on July 18 at Cajun Flea Market.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. June 17 Ariel Nicole Arnaud, 28, 1100 block of West Ash Avenue, Eunice. Illegal carrying and discharge of weapons, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Arrested by Eunice Police.

Rice crop off to good start

This year’s rice crop is progressing well, and the recent Tropical Storm Cristobal had little effect, an LSU AgCenter rice expert said at the Evangeline Parish rice field day on June 11.

Early voting begins Saturday

Early voting for the July 11 election begins Saturday in Eunice and Opelousas. Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, also said Saturday is the last day to register to vote online for the election at geauxvote.com. The Presidential Preference Primary is on the ballot.

Free mobile COVID-19 testing today at EHS

Free mobile COVID-19 testing is available from 8 to 11 a.m. today at Eunice High School, 301 S. Bobcat Dr. The Louisiana Department of Health/Office of Public Health and St. Landry Parish government have teamed up with the Louisiana National Guard to offer the testing through July 7.

Mary Caldwell passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the age of 99. No Services have been planned at this time.

Esther Jean Ardoin

BASILE~It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Esther Jean Ardoin announces her passing on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her loving family by her side. She was 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m.
