Free lunch for elderly at Southeast Center Restoring God’s Glory Ministries is providing free lunches for the elderly, veterans and disabled from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Southeast Neighborhood Center, at 101 City Avenue in Eunice. Delivery is available also.

Parade still on to honor city’s high school seniors

A first-time parade to honor the city’s high school seniors remains scheduled at 6 p.m. Friday from City Hall to Circle Park and back. Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said the event remains scheduled. The seniors are to wear caps and gowns and march six-feet apart for social distancing.

Board gathers for first meeting since March

The Eunice Board of Aldermen returned to City Hall for its first official meeting since March. The Board did not meet in April. At the time, Mayor Scott Fontenot said there was nothing pressing to act upon as a stay-at-home order existed to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.

Fontenot is semi-finalist for state award

Eunice High School Principal Mitchell Fontenot is on the Louisiana Principal of the Year Semi-Finalist list. The Louisiana Principal of the Year is the highest honor the state can bestow upon a principal.

Larry Mills

Larry Mills passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the age of 83. No services have been planned at this time. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Louviere Mills; one son, Boyd “Chip” Mills, two step daughters, LaDonna Froman, Talli Froman; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Kinney Francois

Kinney Francois passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the age of 85. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel of Eunice with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating. Burial will follow in St Paul Cemetery.
