Crash kills bicyclist in Acadia Parish

A bicyclist was killed on La. 13 near Faulk Road in Acadia Parish shortley before 6:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I. The crash took the life of 49-year-old Michael Bourgeois of Sulphur.

Man charged with vehicular homicide

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on La. 93 at Billeaux Road in St. Landry Parish. The crash took the life of 36-year-old James Ryan Elliott of Scott.

Student arrested for bomb threat

A 13-year-old student was arrested for making a bomb threat at Eunice Junior High School on Thursday. Eunice Police said a student reported there was a threat about “go boom by second bell” on a urinal. Police and firefighters were notified and the school was evacuated.

Lemon tree planting, plaque honors musician Amédé Ardoin

Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser dedicated a lemon tree and plaque during a ceremony commemorating the birthday of Amédé Ardoin (March 11, 1898 – November 3, 1942). Ardoin was one of Louisiana’s first Creole, Cajun, and Zydeco recording artists, singer, and accordionist.
