Postal Service: Eunice Post Office to reopen in next 90 days

The U.S. Postal Service responded to a Eunice News inquiry about the Eunice Post Office that the facility will reopen within 90 days. The main building at 3rd Street and Laurel Avenue has been closed since Sept. 23, 2019. The Postal Service cited mold issues in the building for the closure.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. February 8 - 10 Roy Wendell Johnson, 24, 900 block of Thomas Avenue, Opelousas. Theft (2 counts). Arrested by Opelousas Police. Joseph Hayburn Hebert IV, 24, 700 block of Miller Street, Eunice.

Opelousas man pleads guilty to burning 3 Baptist churches in St. Landry Parish

U.S. Attorney David C. Joseph announced today that Holden Matthews, 22, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Lafayette to intentionally setting fire to three Baptist churches because of the religious character of those buildings.

Concealed carry class planned

The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is holding a one-day concealed carry class at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 29 at 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course is $100 dollars and $80 for an additional spouse.
