Informaton sought about attempted burglary in Mowata

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an attempted burglary at the Mowata Store, 30283 Crowley-Eunice Highway, at about 2:40 a.m. Jan. 17. According to a news release from Sheriff K.P.

Season tickets on sale for Players’ Theatre Eunice Players’ Theatre now has season tickets for their 51st season on sale. Single tickets are $30 for a single ticket; $100 for a Patron (4 tickets), and $150 for an Angel (6 tickets).

Interim fire chief named; sewer user fee increase tabled

The Crowley Fire Department has an interim fire chief. Terry J. Romero was named to temporarily fill the seat vacated at the beginning of the year by the retirement of long-time Chief Jody Viator.

Carnival d’Acadie schedule finalized

Plans for the 20th annual Carnival d’Acadie — the city of Crowley’s Mardi Gras celebration — have been finalized. The one-day event will be held at the Enterprise Center parking area, 11 N. Parkerson Ave., on Feb. 25, Mardi Gras. Activities will begin at 10 a.m.

Sheriff to host free ACT class here on Saturday

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson will host a free ACT Prep Class on Saturday, Feb. 1, for all interested high school students in Acadiana. The session will be held at the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, 1037 Capitol Ave., in Crowley. Class will begin promptly at 8 a.m.
